NYS Governor, Assembly and Senate Honor
the Lubavitcher Rebbe

The governor of New York State and both houses, the Assembly and the Senate, declared 104 Education Days in honor of the 104th birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson in April.

“Now we are not Republicans or Democrats, now we all came to celebrate the Rebbe’s birthday” said New York State Governor George Pataki as he came to personally participated in the celebration for the Rebbe’s birthday. “We are all here for the Rebbe” said Rabbi Yisroel Rubin, regional director of Chabad of Eastern NYS, based in Albany, “as the Rebbe is always here for us.”

“It is always a singular honor and privilege to host the celebration in honor of the Rebbe” said Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, “As the Rebbe’s dedication to education is for all people regardless of race color or creed.”

As part of the celebrations in honor of the Rebbe’s birthday Rabbi Shmuel M. Butman, Director Lubavitch Youth Organization, opened the New York state Assembly and the New York State Senate with prayers.

Rabbi David Raskin, Chairman of the Lubavitch Youth Organization continued his tradition distributing Matzoh Shmura (Hand-made Passover Matzah) in honor of Passover

The event was held in the Assembly Parlor in the State Capital.  The special luncheon was attended by members of the assembly, and several Chabad representatives including Rabbi Pesach Burston of Chabad of Orange County.
