About the David & Beatrice Kaplan Orange County Community Torah
The most precious gift that G‑d gave the Jewish people is the Torah, and it’s the most sacred article in Jewish life. For thousands of years, despite the Jewish people enduring centuries of upheaval and suffering, not one of the Torah’s 304,805 letters has ever been lost or changed. We have studied and lived by its laws, and it has brought joy and vibrancy of Judaism throughout history. Each Torah absorbed the sanctity of the first, like a flame giving birth to another flame.

The Torah you see today is written exactly the same way it was the very first time by Moses. Thus, the chain of Torah remains unbroken from the time it was given to us at Sinai.
The Jewish people are compared to the letters of the Torah. The Sages taught that each and every Jew has a letter in the Torah which corresponds to his or her soul. Each letter has its own value. All the letters of the Torah and all the people of the Jewish nation are interdependent. Without even one letter of a Torah Scroll, it’s incomplete. Similarly, each Jew remains linked with all Jews.
The very last mitzvah in the Torah is to write a Torah Scroll. By endowing a letter, word or part of the Torah for yourself or a loved one, you are considered by Jewish law to have written a Torah scroll yourself! We are all guardians to Jewish continuity. Find your place in the Torah.
